Morning Thought Thursday July 6th

Good morning

When I was in Romania last month, it was with real sadness that we made the decision to close Casa Mabel, Mustard Seed Jersey’s residential home for the elderly in the Bihor county of Romania.

We had raised funds to build it and it opened in 2009. Since then it had moved from strength to strength, ending up as an extremely popular home – the best in the county – to judge by the feedback on the website.

Quite simply earlier this year new  rules, regulations and requirements for running such a home came into force quite unexpectedly, and this made it impossible for Mustard Seed  to run Casa Mabel legally now.  So with real sadness we took the decision to close. It is scheduled to close on July 15th.

We are sad for the staff losing their jobs but most of all for the 20 residents, whose families and friends now are finding new homes for them; many both here in Jersey and in Romania are praying each resident finds good accommodation and will be truly happy there.

It has made several of us ask God “Why?” and the truthful answer is we simply do not know. We believe God has used the home to bless many of the residents who have lived and died there. We thank the Lord that we gained a good reputation and that the home had such a happy atmosphere. We will probably never understand the true reasons till we see God in Heaven and can ask Him if we want to.

In Ecclesiastes in the Bible we read: “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven, a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to harvest …… a time for war and a time for peace”.   Have a good day and God bless you.
