Jan 13 Morning Thought 2
Tuesday January 1st
Traditionally today is the day of fresh starts. And I want to share with
you about a needy family in Oradea, Romania for whom we have provided a new
start.
Last month Mustard Seed Jersey was joined by students from Beaulieu
Convent School to help with the distribution. Before the trip the students had
worked hard and raised funds so they would be able to make a difference to
those in need.
All were moved by the plight of several families living in appalling
conditions, one with no light other than candles. Another
with no cooker - to us in Jersey quite unthinkable.
The students decided to use funds to help both those needy families.
For one family the funds would pay the connection fee to allow this
family to have electric light. This family had no chance to pay the connection
fee. Just think what a difference that would make on long dark evenings!
For the other family the students decided to buy a wood burning stove
that would be used for cooking and for heating. Their money stretched to
provide firewood as well.
By their actions the students were able to put their faith into practice
and make a difference.
In the Bible St James tells us that religion or faith if not accompanied
by appropriate actions is a dead set of beliefs.
It's New Year's Day, maybe your New Years
resolution could be to put your faith into action and help others more this
year.
I wish you peace and prosperity and above all God’s blessing this year.
