MORNING THOUGHT
FRIAY JAN 4th 2013
Good morning.
I have just come back from Romania where I distributed the Mustard Seed
Jersey Christmas shoeboxes. Mustard Seed packs shoeboxes for pensioners as well
as children. We distributed to our sponsored pensioners and also to Casa Mabel
residents. This is Mustard Seed's pensioners' home. 12 needy female pensioners
live there.
I spent quite a bit of time at Casa Mabel. While there I noticed was
there was sometimes aggravation between the women and one particular little old
woman called Catia. It always seemed to be initiated
by the other women. I could not understand it and so asked Alex about it.
He explained that the problem is that Catia
takes things, usually just bread or food after the meal to put in her room, but
at times she has taken other things too. I was quite amazed to hear this.
Alex explained about Catia’s life – she had
been on her own with no family in a distant village, desperately poor and struggling
to survive. She had never come across flush toilets or showers till she came to
Casa Mabel and even after months there she is still frightened about showering
and the carers have to be very firm with her about the need for regular shower!
After meals she often takes food to her room not to eat it, but to have
it there for if there should be none the next day. I hope she will learn to
trust that there is enough and to feel secure.
In Matthews Gospel Jesus promised His followers that our Heavenly Father
supplies all our needs and that we can leave our worries about tomorrow in His
hands.
So have a good and worry free day
