MORNING
THOUGHT 1 Monday January 2011
Good morning or in Romanian Buna dominiatsza. We have recently come back from Mustard Seed
Jersey’s Christmas trip to Romania. This morning I want to share some of our
experiences with you.
My husband Phil and I deliberately planned to
arrive in Romania a couple of days before the aid lorry would be due as we
wanted to spend time in Romania with Flori. For those
of you who do not already know: Flori is a young
woman, with kidney failure having hemo dialysis 3
times a week, but there is only a finite amount of time that the body will
accept hemo-dialysis. An attempt to set her up with
peritoneal dialysis had failed, so her life expectancy is now quite short. She
is part of Mustard Seed’s sponsorship programme and endeared herself to all who
met her when we brought her to Jersey 3 years ago. We wanted to spend time with
her realising it could be the last time.
But when we arrived in Romania it was obvious
that although Flori was delighted to see us she had a cloud
hanging over her and she was full of apologies that she must get ready to leave
to go to Bucharest by ambulance within 2 hours of our arrival. It was
disappointing but also good news as it meant the hospital in Bucharest would
try the surgery again to enable her to have this different form of kidney
dialysis and thereby prolong her life.
We talked by phone when she was in Bucharest
in hospital. She was on her own as it was not possible for anyone to go with
her and Alex’s contact in Bucharest had moved so he could not get anyone to
visit her. Flori really brought tears to my eyes when
she spoke of how alone she was “just God and me” she
said then added “I am fine for God is with me”.
On the Sunday we spoke again and this time Flori’s joy and excitement was infectious. During the night
she had had a dream – she called it a vision in which she saw angels with her.
One of the angels spoke her name and told her she would never be left alone. As
her dream or vision continued she saw many of her friends and heard how lovingly
they spoke of her. She was thrilled and strengthened by this.
At a time when Flori
was completely alone in a strange place recovering from surgery with no friends
around her, she was able to see things not normally visible to us humans. It
was what she needed at that time. I believe God met her at her point of need
and gave her that comfort and reassurance that she needed.
It is not just in Romania, it is not just Flori – God wants to meet each one of us at our point of
need if only we will let Him. To everyone listening – especially if you are
having a tough time – can I encourage to ask God for help.
He will not disappoint anyone who sincerely and genuinely asks for His help –
His answer may not be a vision of angels, but He will respond and respond
positively and with love..
Have a good day and God bless you.
