MORNING THOUGHT BREAD
Morning Thought for Monday November 17th
Good morning. Looking through photos always brings back memories. Going
through my photos from my last aid trip to Romania with Mustard Seed Jersey, there
is one special photo. It is of an elderly woman clutching a loaf of bread with
the most radiant smile on her face.
It was the last bread distribution of the winter season, the cold
weather was gone and summer was coming soon. The beaming smile on the elderly
woman's face left us in no doubt that to her the 2 loaves of bread she held
were precious and special and valued.
For the last few years Mustard Seed Jersey has funded a bread
distribution in Oradea for the poorest of the poor, under the guidance and
administration of Nelu. The beneficiaries will queue
for up to 2 hours before the expected arrival time of the bread van. Some weep
with joy and relief, some are silent, some like the lady show their joy in
their smile.
In my photos I have many memories and challenges - reminders of the work
Mustard Seed is privileged to be involved in. Challenges to think we have so
much while others have so little. Challenging too to see the joy a loaf of
bread brings.
If you go to church you may well pray the Lord's Prayer "Give us
this day our daily bread". For some that is a very real prayer - the
difference between life and death.
Give us this day
our daily bread dear Lord and teach us how to share with those in need. Amen
