Morning Thought 1

Buna Ziua – that’a
Good day in Romanian.
There are many things that inspire me to continue the
work of Mustard Seed Jersey but nothing more than the evidence that we are
making a real difference for good in people’s lives. I get excited at how we
are able to help at just the right time, in just the right way, and I do
believe that somehow God helps us get the timing right. Often we will pray for
guidance about how best to use the resources entrusted to us.
Let me share with you the report sent earlier this year from
social workers in Romania about how much the help meant to one family.
They wrote:
The husband Mircea has been in
hospital several times recently, he is very sick and can no longer work. His
medicine is so expensive for them. His wife Lucretia
is a faithful woman, working hard always praying and striving to be cheerful. On
2 occasions when we went with the food parcels, purchased with the Jersey money,
Lucretia told us we were messengers from God as
they had no food left. So the money from Jersey was used to buy
food meaning MIrcea
and Lucretia had good food to eat and so Lucretia did not need to go scavenging in the garbage bins
to feed them.
St Francis of Assissi’s famous
prayer says Make me a channel of Your peace. Today we can
pray and ask God to make us channels of His provision for those in need. You
may not meet people in need of physical food today, but you may meet people
needing a smile and some encouragement to cope with life’s problems. So join with
me as I pray asking God to make me a channel of His love to those I meet today.
