Morning Thought 2
Tuesday May 5th 2015
Multumesc – that is Thank you in Romanian. And I thank
you for listening.
As I said yesterday I find it is incredibly rewarding to
witness the evidence that the financial and material aid from Mustard Seed Jersey
makes a huge difference to the beneficiaries.
Over the last 18 months, we have been privileged on
number of occasions to help Eva an elderly lady with serious health problems.
On our first visit in December 2013, she had no light except for the sun and candles
when she could afford them. Beaulieu Convent School students were so moved by
her plight that they donated the money to purchase a solar panel unit to
provide her with light. Now even at night she can have light in her tiny house.
Funding from Jersey has also provided her with firewood
to stop her freezing to death when the temperatures drop well below zero, and
we also include her on our bread distribution programme.
When we visited her in December 2014 she gladly showed us
her little house with the solar light and also her tiny garden in which she
proudly grows a few vegetables to eat.
As I reflect, I thank God we have been able to help this
brave old lady. Without our help she would have had no light, no heat and no
bread this winter.
But also I am challenged by her cheerfulness and her
gratitude. She had so little but was so grateful for what she had.
Please take that thought with you today and be grateful
and thankful for the many good things in your life.
