Morning Thought 3 Wednesday January 11th 2012
Good morning. I returned from Romania just before
Christmas. While in Romania I was privileged to distribute Mustard Seed Jersey
Christmas shoeboxes, and monitor our various projects there. I stayed for a
week at Casa Mabel Mustard Seed’s residential home for vulnerable pensioners.
One of the most friendly and cheerful of the old ladies
is Lenuta. On my final Sunday when I got back from
the church service, we saw immediately that there were visitors and worked out
that it must be people for Lenuta.
We could hear the happy sounds of talking and a baby
laughing coming from her room. As soon as she realised we were back she invited
us to meet her great nephew and his wife and their 6 month old baby. I had
never seen Lenuta so excited. 2 hours later when
carol singers came, again she introduced her family to them also. When they
finally left Lenuta’s face beamed with joy and pride
and she was still smiling the next day, that visit meant so much to her.
It was only later when I spoke to the social worker that
I realised how very special this visit was. Although Lenuta
has been at Casa Mabel for 2 years, this is the first time any of her family
have visited her or been in touch – why they had not come before we do
not know. But whatever the reason she was thrilled to see them.
Stop and think a minute – is there anyone that you could
bring joy? maybe by taking time to visit or call?
