Morning thought 1
Monday May 20th 2019
Good
morning! During the next five mornings I hope to share some of Mustard Seed
Jersey’s encouraging success stories that demonstrate how a little bit of help
can make a significant difference in other people’s lives. None of these
successes happened overnight, they took time, involving weeks, months and
sometimes years of work fuelled by care and prayer. Yes, we do believe in
prayer and when we see a need we pray, asking for God’s help.
When we first met Nadia, it was
at the beginning of the 21st century. She and her friends had just left the
state orphanage but had nowhere to live. They were ill prepared for life, short
of the resources and skills needed to survive.
Mustard Seed Jersey was able to
provide the funding that enabled a small local Romanian trust to work with
Nadia and her friends providing safe accommodation and loving help. Over a
number of years, the young people learnt the basic skills required to survive,
preparing them to be independent and self supporting,
both materially and emotionally.
It
has now been nearly 20 years since then. On Facebook several days each week I
see photos of Nadia and her family. She is now married with two children and
glows with happiness. She keeps us well-informed of her marriage and her two
children.
When
I read Nadia’s Facebook posts and see how well she is doing now, I thank God
for the privilege of making Mustard Seed Jersey a link in a chain that lead to
someone having a fresh opportunity and a secure future.
