Morning thought 2
Tuesday May 21st 2019
Good
morning! With Mustard Seed Jersey we’ll work with people based purely on their
need, regardless of age, sex, creed or culture.
We run several projects in
Romania. One of our most successful projects is our Adopt a Granny sponsorship
programme. The Romanian social workers select pensioners that are most in need
of assistance, then send regular reports, letting us know how they are doing.
Sometimes these reports are heart breaking and other times, they are
delightfully encouraging.
We
recently received a report about an elderly lady named Eva who has been a part
of our programme for about 5 years. When we met her, she lived in a shack with
no electric light.
Through
Beaulieu Convent School’s involvement, we were able to help her obtain a solar
panel to provide light which made a huge difference to her and her sick son, he
was unable to work due to depression following an accident.
Two
years ago, their roof was leaking badly. So we were able to provide funds for a
tarpaulin to stop the water pouring in.
However,
the report I received a few weeks ago was surprising. The social worker wrote
“I have good news. Eva and her son have moved. He is better and has found
employment and she has found a part-time job. Now they can afford a small
social assistance rented apartment! They no longer need our help. Please thank
their sponsor and tell them that their faithful help over the years has saved
the life of both Eva and her son, giving them hope”.
Mustard
Seed’s aim is to offer a helping hand until people can stand and support
themselves.
Our
Motto is “Your help makes a difference”. With God’s help and your support we
believe we really can.
