4 morning thought Thursday August 15th
“As you sow so shall you reap “ that is quite a well-known saying that
originates in the Bible that is what St Pauls said in his letter to the Galatians
nearly 2000 years ago.
I feel that we saw that in action just a couple of months ago. Over the
years with his involvement with Mustard Seed Jersey Alex has worked with a number
of different communities on building projects and many people have benefited.
His most recent project is a holiday club for vulnerable children and young
people.
But storms at the end of June resulted in some quite drastic damage to
the building and site. Mustard Seed was able to help with some funds for
replacement materials but not for the labour costs. So Alex approached some of
the various communities that he had assisted over the years and something
really quite beautiful happened. Although these communities were very poor in worldly
terms they gave their skills and labor free of charge
and worked an amazing transformation on the site with the result that no bookings
had to be cancelled. If you had seen the photos of the site as it was straight
after the storm you would understand that that really was a miracle to repair
the damage so fast.
There is much in the Bible about the importance of giving. The last book
in the Old Testament talks about giving to God and receiving great blessings.
Alex had given freely and generously over a number of years and in his time of
need people rallied around and gave to him what he needed.
